Japanese M&A in Australia – Kanamoto

Japan’s Kanamoto, a major plant and equipment rental firm, has acquired the Victorian headquartered rental company Porter Plant Group. Kanamoto is based in Hokkaido and is listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The AJBCC recently published a report, Why are Japanese Companies Investing in Australia, identifying the factors driving Japanese M&A in Australia. Kanamoto conforms to a number of the characteristics identified including size and turnover of the Japanese company, length of time since its establishment and number of countries in which it operates.
