One emerging area of business between Australia and Japan, which continues to achieve success but is not generally well known, is in the area of medical research as well as medical devices. Leveraging off Australia’s strong skills in medicine (half of Australia’s Nobel prize winners have come from the field of medicine) another Australian company, the ASX listed Compumedics has announced a distribution agreement in Japan with Fukuda Denshi Co., Ltd for its neuro diagnostic and monitoring equipment. Although the Japan market is a challenging environment, a number of Australian companies are currently engaged in the market, including Mesoblast, Resmed and Regeneus to name a few.
