Japan and Post Merger Integration: PwC Report

Japan and Post Merger Integration: PwC Report

Australia has not escaped Japan’s recent rapid increase in global M&A activity. Whilst M&A can bring great benefits to the post acquisition entity, it is not without its problems. PwC has recently released a report Unlocking Japan’s potential How culture can drive success in post-merger integration. The report notes that:

“Cultural factors can also have a significant negative impact on business performance by as much as 57 per cent. This is supported by studies that indicate incompatible cultures being a key factor in M&A failures.”

This is an interesting read based on conclusions drawn from interviews with Japanese companies.
