Japanese Investment in Australia (1): More activity

Japanese investment in Australia is showing no sign of a let-up as it spreads ever wider. ASX listed Programmed Maintenance Services Limited, a staffing, maintenance and facility management services company has recommended to shareholders acceptance of a takeover offer from a Japanese company. That company is the PERSOL Group which is one of Japan’s largest staffing and recruitment firms. This is another example of a services based acquisition coming out of Japan as these types of companies:

  • chase growth opportunities (as their domestic market shrinks) or;
  • seek access to management skills in Australia becuuase of its long history in the development of expertise in the services sector.
