Austrade Project: Focus on Japan Investment

Austrade has commissioned a project “Japanese Investment in Australia – A trusted Partnership” to be released during 2017 and coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the 1957 Commerce Agreement between Australia and Japan. In 2016 Japanese Foreign Direct Investment in Australia exceeded A$85.9 billion, making Japan the second largest investor in Australia after the United States. “Many of our largest export industries – including iron ore, coal and LNG – could not have been built without Japanese investment……..More recently, Japanese investment has extended to sectors including financial services, infrastructure, information and communications technology, property, food and agribusiness.”
