AJBCC and PwC: Sports Roundtable

AJBCC and PwC: Sports Roundtable

The AJBCC, together with member company PwC, hosted a sports roundtable in Sydneyand Melbourne in March. This brought together CEOs and Board Members of a number of sporting codes, sportscasters, former players, Japanese corporates and the Japanese Consul General in Sydney. Coming after the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the Japanese Prime Minister’s visit to Sydney at the beginning of 2017, the purpose of the roundtable was to:

  • examine the emerging opportunities which might be available in the Australia-Japan sport context;
  • exchange information on the extent of involvement with Japan amongst Australian sporting codes; and
  • explore with Japanese companies how they might become involved in this sector.

The unique timing in Japan of Rugby World Cup in 2019 and the Tokyo Olympics & Paralympics of 2020 is the trigger for emerging business opportunities in Australia-Japan sports.
