A welcome increase in capacity on the direct Australia Japan route has come about this month with Qantas which has launched daily direct flights between Melbourne and Tokyo’s Narita Airport. The outbound flight from Melbourne will be a daytime flight whereas the inbound from Japan will leave Tokyo in the evening and arrive the next morning into Melbourne.
Two way passenger traffic on the Australia-Japan route has been booming as Japanese tourist inbound numbers into Australia are trending upwards and Australians travelling to Japan continues its strong upward trajectory.
