Japan’s Ambassador Bids Farewell

Japan’s Ambassador to Australia, H.E. Yoshitaka Akimoto completes his term this month and returns to Tokyo. The Ambassador’s assignment occurred at an historic time with the conclusion of the Japan Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA) and reciprocal visits by both countries’ Prime Ministers.

President of the AJBCC, Sir Rod Eddington AO, in thanking Ambassador Akimoto said “The visit by Prime Minister Abe was a real “tonic” for our bi-lateral relationship. It put Japan back in the spotlight – a place it truly belongs. Our own Prime Minister’s visit to Japan and the commitment to annual visits is something we strongly welcome.”
