Healthcare

The healthcare sector covers a broad area. Both Japan and Australia share the same demographic profile of an advanced industrialised country with an aging population.

In the area of medical devices, Australian companies have already been active in the Japanese market over a long period.

In 2012, to explore this area, the AJBCC invited healthcare experts from the Tokyo-based KPMG Healthcare Japan to present a high-level view of Japan’s healthcare sector. As a result, the AJBCC dispatched an exploratory mission to Japan to have a first-hand look at how the healthcare system operated in the primary, acute, aged, diagnostics and data integration space. In addition, the Japanese Government’s broad policy approach to the escalating healthcare sector expenditure was also covered.
