Second Joint Australia - Japan Public - Private Policy Dialogue

The Australia Japan Business Co-operation Committee (AJBCC) is an active group of top Australian business persons that has developed over 49 years into one of the most valuable elements in strengthening Australia-Japan ties.
Second – Joint Australia - Joint Public - Private Policy Dialouge - Friday 7th October, 2011
The Second Joint Australia-Japan Public-Private Policy Dialogue was held on Friday 7th October, 2011 in Tokyo and was scheduled to coincide with the 49th Japan-Australia Joint Business Conference to be held 9th – 11th October in Kyoto. Presentations were made on trade and investment issues between Australia and Japan and there were updates on infrastructure developments within Australia undertaken by the Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure & Transport, Infrastructure Australia and Infrastructure New South Wales, and within Japan regarding the new JBIC Act, the Revision of the PFI Law. The Dialogue also undertook discussion of:-
- Utilisation of PPP in the reconstruction of the Tohoku region;
- The need for coordination of the Australian and Japanese governments’ support for joint venture projects in Asia; and
- What mechanisms are needed to realise closer cooperation between Australia and Japan.
At the end of the Dialogue it was agreed that a Third Dialogue take place coinciding with a visit of the AJBCC Executive Committee on Thursday 29th March, 2012 to Tokyo.
