Recognition by Asialink: Sir Rod Eddington AO

Last month, Asialink awarded the AJBCC’s President Sir Rod Eddington the prestigious Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop medal. The citation in part commented:

…[Dunlop] in whose name this medal is awarded, spent much of his post war life serving our nation by rebuilding Australia’s links with Asia, particularly promoting reconciliation and partnerships with the Japanese. Sir Rod Eddington AO embodies and brings to life Weary’s vision, having contributed a significant proportion of his life to deepening Australia’s involvement with Asia. He has done this not only through occupying leadership positions in some of the region’s most prestigious companies, but also via his role as the key figure in the Australia-Japan business relationship through his chairmanship of the Australia Japan Business Co-operation Committee. A passionate, patient and pragmatic advocate for stronger ties with Asia, Sir Rod has used his combination of on-the-ground experience in Japan, Hong Kong and Korea, and his broad network of relationships in the region, to generate countless opportunities for Australia and its people.
